Performs work involving the custodial care, maintenance and repair of the McMahon Memorial Auditorium (MMA) building and grounds, and to ensure a clean, safe and secure environment.  

  • Provides custodial care and maintenance for MMA building and grounds. 
  • Prepares auditorium facilities for scheduled events and covers maintenance shifts for events as required. 
  • Maintains custodial care and maintenance of the division office located in MMA. 
  • Assists with the custodial care and maintenance aspects of the annual International Festival.
  •  Follow policies, procedures and guidelines established for the operation of the auditorium and Arts and Humanities Division.
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED. 
  • Minimum of one year custodian experience. 
  • Skill in the use of cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Knowledge of general safety procedures and practices around mechanical and electrical equipment and machinery. 
  • Knowledge of methods of maintaining building and grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition. 
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and practice preventive maintenance. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to provide information and assistance to promoters, general public and other staff members in a helpful, courteous and timely manner. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate, understand and follow instructions verbally and in  writing. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, stage crew, event promoters, and the general public. 
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision. 
  • Ability to plan and organize work to meet changing priorities. 
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule as required, including some evenings and weekends.

The job is located in the Arts and Humanities Division of the Parks and Recreation Department in the McMahon Memorial Auditorium.
